Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of James Darwin Tapley Sr, age 62, of Midville, GA, who died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Emanuel Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Peebles Curry Memorial Chapel with the Elder Tommy Rountree and Rev. Emory Fennell officiating.

The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 6-9 PM.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jody Johnson, Dean Page, Brett Mann, Jodi Drew, Jimmy Sherrod, Tony Fennell, Jeff Coursey, Jerry Kersey, Donnie Alexander.

Mr. Tapley was a native of Emanuel County, served two tours in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a carpenter, charter member of the Ogeechee River Rats of Swainsboro and a Baptist. Mr. Tapley was preceded in death by his parents Harvey C and Flora Minton Tapley.

Survivors include:

Two Sons and Daughter-In-Law: Darwin Tapley Jr. of Swainsboro, GA and Dustan and Kiesha Fennell of Adrian, GA.

Two Sisters: Glatis Thomas and Gerry Earp of Brunswick, GA

Two Brothers: Lanier Tapley of Manning, SC and Otis Tapley of Statesboro, GA

Three Grandchildren: James Hunter Tapley, Sara Donyale Tapley and Cheyenne Marie Fennell.
