Funeral service for Delores Hall Thompson, 68, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel in Irmo. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday. A brief graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday in Hall Family Cemetery near Modoc, Ga., in Emanuel County.
     Mrs. Thompson died April 21, 2010. Born August 9, 1941, in Emanuel County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Gordon Hall and Carrie Bell Beckworth Hall. She attended public schools in Swainsboro, Ga., and, in 1963, earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Women’s College of Georgia in Milledgeville, Ga. For several years she taught junior high mathematics in Georgia and Texas, before moving to Lansdale, Pa., in 1966. Upon relocating to Columbia in 1972 she pursued a career in banking, attaining the level of assistant vice president of market research and development. In 1991 she joined Chas. Thomson Associates as business manager, remaining there until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of two Bridge clubs, a tennis team and the Chapin Arts and Crafts League. Her life-long hobby was the genealogical study of her family history.
     Surviving are her husband, Charles O. “Chuck” Thompson; daughter, Dr. Andrea Drew-Gounev, her husband, Dr. Todor Gounev and their son, Troy Drew Gounev of Kansas City, Mo.; son, Dr. Barry Robert Drew and fiancee, Monique GIron of Olather, Kansas; stepson, Peter Mitchell Revis, his wife, Kim, and their son of Clinton; sister, Betty Jean and husband, Carol Baughman of Palm Coast, Fla.; a large number of nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by an older sister, Kathleen Hall Belfiore of Hilton Head Island, and an older brother, Charles Kenneth Hall Sr. of Swainsboro.
     Thanks to the kind people of Lexington Medical Center and Ascension Hospice. Special thanks to her Quail Valley tennis team, Bridge club ladies and Chapin Craft Club friends for their may acts of kindness and support.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

So sorry to hear of Delores death. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you . Betty Jean was in my class so I still remember some of the times we all shared in high school. May God be with all of you during this time.
