Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Clinton “Bruce” Smith, Jr.  68, of Waynesboro, GA, on Tuesday, February 04, 2020 at Augusta Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 07, 2020 at 2:00pm at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Shryock.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at their home on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 5:00-7:00pm.

Pallbearers are Mikey Bell, Don Gay, Ken Anderson, Reamer Oglesby, Ritchie, Lincoln and Logan Gay.

Bruce was born in Jacksonville Florida on January 4, 1952 and although he was born in Florida, he was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.  Bruce followed in his father’s footsteps and retired form ITT Rayonier after almost 20 years; also from his father he acquired the “gift of gab”. Bruce found joy in giving and helping other people. He was a jokester with a dry sense of humor. Bruce enjoyed fishing, “competing” for the best grown garden and Elvis. Not necessarily in that order. He shared a special bond with his daughter that only a father could share. His great-grandchildren were the sparkle in his eye and the larger than life smile on his face. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Bruce and Lena Corbitt Smith, Sr. and his and Megan’s best friend Chevy Smith.

Survivors include: His wife of 49 years, Carmen Gay Smith

Daughter: Lisa Smith of Waynesboro, GA

Sisters: Rose Sapp (Tony) of Swainsboro, GA, Charlotte Brantley (Larry) of Lyons, GA

Granddaughter: Megan Bell (Mikey) of Waynesboro, GA

Great-Grandchildren: Hayden and Harper Bell

Several Nieces and Nephews
