Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. James Monroe Hill, age 74 of Swainsboro, GA on Friday, February 01, 2019 at the Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Shepard officiating assisted by Rev. Shannon Boula

Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2-3 PM at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Mr. Hill was born October 30, 1944 in LaFollette, TN to the late Elmer and Dora Mynatt Hill.  He served his country in the US Army in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict later graduating  in 1974 from Draughn's Business College in Knoxville, TN.  Mr. Hill worked in the manufacturing industry for 40 plus years retiring from Ithaca Industries, was also a prison guard for nine years with the Wrightsville YDC, and was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a life-time member of the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) and the American Legion.

Survivors include:

His Wife of 55 years: Rosemarie Hill of Swainsboro, GA

One Daughter: Melissa Thrower (Roger) of Greenville, AL

Three Sons: Mikel Hill  of McKenzie, AL, James E. Hill of Greenville, AL and Ronald Hill (Karen) of Twin City, GA

Five Sisters: Patsy Maurice (Jeff), Doris Brockman, Carolyn Popplewell all of Shelbyville, IN, Lora Pettiford (Rick) and Lisa Bourff both of LaFollette, TN.

Three Brothers: Paul Hill (Carol) of LaFollette, TN, Bob Hill (Brenda) of Stockbridge, GA and Jack Hill (Donna) of Knoxville, TN.

Eight Grandchildren, Twelve Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
