Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Merrill Clay “Buzz” Wohlman, age 56, of Canoochee, GA on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA after an extended illness.
Memorial services are Thursday, January 28th, at 2PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Scott Hudson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
Mr. Wohlman was born in Ft. Benning, GA and was employed by the US Department of State as a Special Agent with Diplomatic Security. He was an outdoorsman and loved camping and scuba diving. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley R. Wohlman.
Mr. Wohlman graduated in 1979 from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC with a B. S. degree in Psychology. He worked in the mental health and construction field before joining the U. S Department of State in 1986. In his 24 years of service with the Diplomatic Security he served on the Secretary’s Detail, Washington, Miami and Atlanta Field Offices, Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and at overseas embassies in Ankara, San Salvador, Monterrey and Cairo.

Four Sisters: Polly Stewart of Savannah, GA, Mary Hamby of Lancaster, SC, Sarah Wohlman of Vero Beach, FL, and Josefa Wells of Ft. Walton Beach, FL
Three Brothers: Roger Johnson and Michael Johnson both of Midville, GA and Jake Wohlman of Swainsboro, GA
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Ogeechee Area Hospice of Statesboro, GA or to Lewis Cancer and Research Center, Savannah, GA.
