Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Annie Ruth Fortner Page, age 93, who died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at University Hospital in Augusta after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, at 11 o’clock at Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church with Rev. Ray Brown and Rev. Bob Rathbun officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Edmond Strickland, Rusty Branson, Stuart Strickland, Michael Cain, James Norris, Bryan Cooper and Brandon Page.
Mrs. Page will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Born in Johnson County on July 19, 1916 to Dred S. and Laura Williams Fortner. Mrs. Page was a lifetime member and served as treasurer of Minton Chapel Advent Christian Church for many years. During her lifetime, she was a member of the Blundale Homemakers Club, a 4-H Club volunteer leader, a volunteer at Emanuel County Hospital, a poll worker in GMD district 1208, and a member of the Emanuel County Agribusiness Council. Mrs. Page was also a member of the Pineland Telephone Cooperative Board of Directors, an Emeritus Director of the Emanuel County Farm Bureau Board, a member of the Emanuel Rangers Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Past Regent of the Governor David Emanuel Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She and her husband worked tirelessly to see that electricity came to rural Emanuel County through the Jefferson Electric Membership Cooperative, now Jefferson Energy Cooperative. She was preceded in death by her husband Burley E. Page, Sr.

Two Daughters and Sons-in-law, Gayle and Frank Elkes of Ocala, Florida and Annelle and Harmon Norris, Swainsboro, Georgia
One Son and Daughter-in-law: Burley E. and Connie Page, Jr., Kite GA
Eight Grand-children: Edmond and Jody Strickland of Perry, GA, Page and Rusty Branson of Ocala, FL, Stuart and Devon Strickland of Reddick, FL, Karmon and Michael Cain of Loganville, GA, James and Tori Norris of East Dublin, Kimberly and Bryan Cooper, Rachel Page and Brandon Page, all of Kite, GA, nine great-grandchildren, and fourteen nieces and nephews.
