Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Ida Riner Johnson, age 91, formerly of Garfield, Ga.on February 13, 2010 at National Health Care Nursing Facility in North Augusta, South Carolina after a brief illness.
Funeral services are Tuesday, February 16th at 2 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating with a eulogy by granddaughter, Angela Phillips.
Interment will be in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Garfield, GA
The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
Pallbearers are Lee Campbell, Britt Campbell, Steve Phillips, Mitchell Cox, Scott Campbell, Grant Campbell, Jake Faglier and Dillon Gay.
Mrs. Johnson had resided in Swainsboro, Ga. at the Retirement Inn for the past ten years and cherished her friendships with everyone there including the caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer Ellington and Nancy Chalker Riner and her husband Pete. Both were avid gardeners and fishermen, and enjoyed many trips to the Ogeechee River with their dear friends Ruth & Clint Kent. Ida also enjoyed quilting with her friends and sharing her homemade cakes and pies. At any given time one could drop in and share one of her delicacies. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church.

Two Daughters and Sons-In-Laws: Barbara J. Campbell and Steve of Lakeland, Florida and Linda J. Flanders and husband Jerry of North Augusta, South Carolina,
Four Grandchildren – Lee Campbell and wife Donna, Britt Campbell and wife Jennifer, Angela Phillips and husband Steven, and Sheila Cox and husband Mitchel – Great grandchildren – Ashley Phillips, Meghan Phillips, Scott Campbell, Grant Campbell, Nicole Cox, Kelsey Cox, and Jake Faglier.
Two Sisters: Zannie Ruth Canady of Swainsboro, Ga. and Louise Newman of Meldrim, Ga.
A host of nieces and nephews.
