Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Georgia Mae McKenzie Kersey, age 88, of Kite, GA on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Pruitt Health.


Funeral services will be Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Kite, GA with Elder Sam Bowen and Elder Calvin Watkins officiating.


Interment will follow in the Kersey Family Cemetery near Kite, GA


The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 PM


Mrs. Kersey will lie in state one hour prior to the service.


Pallbearers are Larry Gladin, Greg Gladin, Nicholas Gladin, Casey Hall, Jason Hall and Ronald Walker.


Mrs. Kersey was born January 19, 1929 in Blun, Emanuel County, GA, to the late George B. and Mattie Harrell McKenzie. Georgia Mae was a homemaker, 1946 graduate of Summertown High School, and a member of the Pilgrims Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Kite, GA. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Arlie D. Kersey; first husband of 25 years, Buford W. Gladin; one son, Larry Gladin; one great-grandson, Collen R. Durden; seven sisters, Mary M. Taylor, Nora M. Logue, Marnella M. Herrington, Daisy M. Fountain, Ruth McKenzie, Grace M. Kirkland Nelson, and Ellena M. Fennell; and five brothers, James McKenzie, Ander McKenzie, Eugene McKenzie, Rudolph McKenzie and Henry McKenzie.


Survivors include:


One Daughter: Cassandra Hall of Kite, GA


Two Sons: John Gladin (Janice) of Ludowici, GA and Keith Gladin (Bunney) of Swainsboro, GA.


Three Brothers: Herschel McKinzie (Marilyn) of Swainsboro, GA, Clifford McKenzie (Ruth), and Herman McKenzie (Janet) both of Blun, GA.


Nine Grandchildren: Larry S. Gladin, Gregory Gladin (Dory), Nicholas Gladin (Nicki), Casey Hall (Betsy), Jason Hall, Haley Hall Durden, Jonathan Gladin, Christopher Gladin, and Amy Lane (Don).


Nineteen Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
