Wendell Durden joined Peebles-Curry Mortuary in 1982 as Funeral Assistant. Born in Candler County, he graduated from Swainsboro High School. In 1987, he graduated from Gupton-Jones School of Funeral Service In Atlanta, GA and in 1992 was named manager of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary. He and Scott Hudson purchased the funeral home in July, 2007 and it was renamed Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, Inc.; Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Durden is a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association, Academy of Graduate Embalmers, the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro and the Swainsboro Country Club.

His wife, Zebe Griswold Durden is office manager at the funeral home and they have one son and daughter-in-law, Dustin and Sherrie Durden and two grandchildren, Daniel and Abigail.

Zebe Durden is a 1972 graduate of Swainsboro High School and joined the staff of Peebles-Curry Mortuary in 1987 after her husband, Wendell graduated from Gupton Jones School of Funeral Service.  She is a licensed insurance agent.

Scott Hudson joined the staff of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary in 1993. A life long resident of Emanuel County, he is a 1980 graduate of Swainsboro High School and a 1990 graduate of Gupton-Jones School of Funeral Service in Atlanta, GA and worked with Hunnicutt Funeral Home. 

In July, 2007 he and Wendell Durden purchased Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary and it was renamed Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, Inc.; Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel. He is a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association and Academy of Graduate Embalmers. He is president of the Swainsboro Shrine Club, serves on the Board of Directors of Emanuel Medical Center and is a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is married to the former Debbie Cannon and they have one daughter, Haleigh.  Debbie joined the staff of Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors in 2008.


Carter Meadows

Apprentice Embalmer and Funeral Director.  He is the grandson of the late Bob Ray Peebles, former co-owner of Peebles-Curry Mortuary.
